How to Set Up AnyDesk for Unattended Access
AnyDesk is a powerful remote desktop application that allows you to access and control a computer from anywhere in the world. One of its key features is unattended access, which lets you connect to a remote computer even when no one is physically present to accept the connection. Follow this step-by-step guide to set up unattended access in AnyDesk.
Step 1: Install AnyDesk on the Remote Computer
First, you need to have AnyDesk installed on the computer you wish to access remotely:
- Download AnyDesk: Go to the AnyDesk website and download the application for your operating system.
- Install AnyDesk: Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Step 2: Open AnyDesk and Find Your Address
Once AnyDesk is installed:
- Launch AnyDesk: Open the AnyDesk application on the remote computer.
- Note the AnyDesk Address: You’ll see a unique AnyDesk address (a series of numbers or a custom alias). This address is required to connect to the computer remotely.
Step 3: Enable Unattended Access
To allow unattended access, you’ll need to configure a password:
- Open Settings: In the AnyDesk application, click on the Settings tab located in the menu on the left side.
- Go to Security: Navigate to the Security section under the Settings menu.
- Enable Unattended Access: Check the box that says Enable unattended access. This will allow the computer to be accessed without someone manually accepting the connection.
- Set a Password: You’ll be prompted to create a strong password. This password will be used to authenticate remote connections.
- Password Guidelines: Make sure the password is complex and not easily guessable to ensure security.
- Save Settings: After setting the password, click Apply or Save to confirm the changes.
Step 4: Configure Security Permissions (Optional)
You may want to configure additional security settings to control what can be done during an unattended session:
- Access Control: Under the Security section, you can adjust the permissions for the incoming connection, such as allowing or blocking clipboard access, file transfer, and other actions.
- Restrict Access: For added security, you can limit access to specific devices or IP addresses.
Step 5: Test the Unattended Access Setup
It’s essential to test your unattended access setup to ensure everything is working correctly:
- Use Another Device: From another computer or mobile device, open AnyDesk and enter the AnyDesk address of the remote computer.
- Connect Remotely: You should be prompted to enter the password you set for unattended access.
- Verify Access: Once connected, ensure that you have full control of the remote computer, and test out essential functions like file transfer and clipboard sharing.
Step 6: Maintain Security and Privacy
Unattended access provides convenience but also requires careful attention to security:
- Regularly Update Passwords: Change your unattended access password periodically to maintain security.
- Monitor Access Logs: Check the connection logs in AnyDesk to monitor who has accessed the computer remotely.
- Use Two-Factor Authentication: If available, enable two-factor authentication for an extra layer of security.
Step 7: Additional Tips
- Wake-on-LAN: If your remote computer supports Wake-on-LAN, you can wake it from sleep or shutdown states, making it accessible at all times.
- Auto-Start AnyDesk: Configure AnyDesk to start with the operating system so that it’s always ready for a remote connection.
